Voice Lessons
Both musical and non musical goals are obtained through the study of music. Build confidence and self-esteem while having fun learning about music. Students take part in exploring and learning repertoire in a variety of styles including Classical, Broadway and Pop music. All voice lessons are private one on one sessions. Most students will have one half-hour lesson per week. Those wanting a more intensive course of study will take a 45-minute lesson. Sight reading and music theory are also briefly studied in each lesson.
A typical lesson begins with a vocal warm-up with various exercises designed to teach vocal technique. The student then works on several songs in a variety of styles and the lesson ends with a few sight-reading exercises.
Students have the opportunity to take part in two performances each year. One takes place in January prior to the music festivals and the other is a musical variety show in June. All students will perform solo pieces as well as sing in groups. Each year students from the studio are invited to compete and perform at the Kiwanis Music Festivals of Kitchener, Guelph and Stratford. Phone or e-mail director@notesbyamy.com for more details.
