AMY CLEMENTS-CORTES
Amy Clements-Cortes is a graduate of the Honours Bachelor of Music Therapy Program at the University of Windsor where she graduated first in her faculty receiving the Board of Governor's Medal as a voice major. In June 2005, Amy graduated from the University of Toronto with her Masters in Music.
Amy is the owner and operator of the Notes By Amy Vocal Studio which is in it's 12th year. She has worked as an instructor at Performing Arts Programs, and teaches music theatre workshops. Each year students from her music studio go to compete at the Kiwanis Music Festivals in the surrounding cities.
Amy has been a member of the Windsor Symphony Choir, Assumption Gallery Choir, University of Windsor Singers, J.M. Drama Alumni, and has also performed solo recitals. Currently Amy is a Cantor for the Roman Catholic Church, and performs in Toronto and surrounding areas. She is a member of the Baycrest Music Ensemble, Pierre Perron singers, Jonathan Grifith singers, Opera York Chorus and works at Baycrest Centre as a music therapist.
Amy has had many community placements working with a variety of populations to further promote music therapy. She has volunteered and worked in 5 nursing homes, a school for Autistic children, Southwestern Regional Centre, Children's Rehabilitation Centre, and Canadian Mental Health Association. Amy is an accredited member of the Canadian Association for Music Therapy (CAMT) and also belongs to the Music Therapy Association of Ontario (MTAO), Toronto Association of Music Therapy, and the American Music Therapy Association (AMTA). At present Amy serves on the CAMT board of directors as the internship chair.
Recently Amy collaborated with Juno award winning composer David Bradstreet to produce Therasleep, a CD to help enduce sleep, and Theracalm. Visit www.theramusic.com for more details.
